Harper is one of the most publicized prospects in the history of high school baseball and is a special inclusion in the 2009 Aflac All-American class. His incoming high school class will not graduate until 2011 but Harper has received his GED and will be attending junior college (College of Southern Nevada) next year to shorten his path to professional baseball. The 6-3, 195 lb Harper's raw power and arm strength are "80" level tools on the 20-80 pro grading scale and are subject to countless stories and more than a little hyperbole. Harper's overall potential has been compared to the top players of the generation. He is definitely a great prospect but some reports have somewhat exaggerated his running speed. His overall game grades off the charts, with only his running speed (which is MLB average) below a plus grade. He is obviously a very early draft candidate, perhaps even the first pick.
